It's always been true that the Florida Keys draws those whose talents are driven by a creative tide that surges within them. Larry Benvenuti's talents as a professional photographer are definitely influenced and driven by his deep love for nature and a true, natural talent for capturing eloquently what appears in front of his camera lens.

Larry moved to the Keys in 1978 because of the warm climate. He soon found, however, that this area is rich in natural beauty, abounding in photo opportunities. Having been a diver for over twenty years, he provides glimpses of the world that exists beneath the surface. Above water, he is equally adept at capturing subjects at their best in natural settings.

Larry's work has been recognized in many ways. He has pictures in two Smithsonian exhibits--four in the marine Ecosystem Exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and over 20 in "Our Reefs--Caribbean Connections," a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. His magazine photo credits include Sport Fishing, Audubon, Florida Sportsman, U.S.Kids, Latitude South, Underwater USA, Florida Living, Outside Magazine, and Florida Keys Magazine, just to name a few. His catalog shoots include Sevylor Inflatables, Zodiac Boats, and Amico Dive Products. He was the first winner of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Photography Contest. He was the staff photographer for the Jason Project VII which took place in the Everglades and in the waters off Key Largo. Many postcards of fish, birds, Key Deer, and the famous Florida Keys sunsets include Larry's name on the back as the photographer.

While the Florida Keys have provided many chances for taking pictures, Larry has always held a fascination for the mysterious island country of Cuba. His first opportunity to visit Cuba came in 1993 when he accompanied the Group BASTA in a humanitarian trip to deliver much-needed food and medical supplies. Sine then, Larry has visited the country five more times. He has made it his mission to photograph various aspect of Cuba--the cities, the countryside, the waters and the people, capturing the essence of the country, its history and its special way of life. Larry has taken care to be non-political, preferring to emphasize its beauty and poignancy. Back in the States, he has presented many slide shows of his images of Cuba. Larry's inventory now contains over 2,000 slides of Cuba--and he is not done yet. While he would enjoy the opportunity to travel to other places in his photographic endeavors, Larry's major focus remains the island country just south of the U.S.

Larry Benvenuti lives in Marathon--in the heart of the Florida Keys--and is available to work on all types of projects. He has photographed numerous special events, providing underwater images, aerial shots and natural portraits. He also has an extensive stock of slides available for books, calendars, brochures and other advertising pieces

One picture is worth a thousand words--and Larry Benvenuti's photographs speak volumes. His love of nature and compassion for people and other living things shows through in the images he captures. He specializes in natural settings--in land and in the water. Whether he is taking pictures for business or for pleasure, Larry is truly an artist and a professional.
